In the next few months, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will be ending the EasyPay Reduced-Fare MetroCard program as part of the transition to the new fare payment system known as OMNY. As we transition from MetroCard to OMNY, existing Reduced-Fare MetroCard customers will receive OMNY cards in the mail through January 2025.

If you’re an existing Reduced-Fare customer who already switched to OMNY using your credit or debit card or mobile device, you can continue using your card or device as usual. You won’t receive an OMNY card in the mail.

Here is what you need to know about this transition:

  • After 1/21/2025, your EasyPay Reduced-Fare MetroCard account will no longer automatically replenish.
  • You will have until 3/22/2025 to use any remaining balance on your account.
  • Account balances of less than $1.45 may be used to cover one ride, after which the account will have a zero balance.
  • The program will end on 3/23/2025 and at that time your EasyPay Reduced-Fare MetroCard will no longer be usable to pay a transit fare.
  • If you have any questions, please contact the EasyPay Account Service Center at 877-323-7433.
Westchester Bee-Line and NICE Bus customers: continue to use your MetroCard until OMNY is available on these services.
