We are transitioning to a new contactless fare payment system known as OMNY, which is available at all subway stations and on all MTA buses. As part of that change, the MTA will no longer accept new EasyPay applications for Reduced-Fare customers.
If you want more flexibility with your fare payments, try OMNY.
If you are already enrolled in the MTA's Reduced-Fare MetroCard program, you can start tapping today with your smartphone or any credit or debit card featuring thissymbol.
Here's how to switch to OMNY online:
To find out how to switch in person, visit new.mta.info/omny-reduced-fare or call OMNY Customer Service at 877-789-6669, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
You must have a permanent Reduced-Fare MetroCard to switch. Temporary cards are not accepted. If you believe you qualify for the Reduced-Fare program, but have not yet applied, visit new.mta.info/reduced-fare to apply.
OMNY also offers a weekly fare cap. Once you have taken 12 paid rides in a seven-day period, on the same device, any additional rides are free. The cap resets every seven days and restarts with your next tap.
If you are a Reduced-Fare customer and prefer to use a Reduced-Fare OMNY card, a free card will be mailed to you when it becomes available.
Reduced-Fare MetroCards are still available, but you will not have the ability to automatically refill one with EasyPay.
If you are an existing EasyPay Reduced-Fare customer, this will have no effect on your account, and you can continue to use your EasyPay MetroCard.
